Pregnancy, Birth Work and Lactation Support

After the birth of my first child, I quickly grew to understand how vital knowledgeable, caring support can be. My own experiences during pregnancy, birth and lactation – and my gratitude to my wife and to the midwives and lactation consultant who helped me – led me to train to become first a breastfeeding peer supporter and then a breastfeeding counsellor. I became an advocate for the rather obvious idea that you should provide people with research-based evidence and then support them to make the decisions that work best for them and their circumstances.

I started by supporting people postnatally, and then I added in antenatal support and birth work once I trained as a doula and also as a peer supporter and mentor for pregnant people suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum.

It should go without saying that it is your body, your baby and your choice, and I love working with people so they can feel supported and empowered to make the choices that suit them.
